At Protective Life, delivering what’s promised is a decision — one we make every day — and doing the right thing is the foundation of everything we do. Therefore, we want to inform you about a key change in the state of Oklahoma. Effective November 1, 2019, Oklahoma revised their Appointment of Producer Licensing Act (36 Ok St. Ann 1435.15) to make pre-appointment required for all agents selling life and annuity business.

Due to this requirement, all agents must be appointed with an insurance carrier prior to soliciting business. If an insurance or annuity application is signed prior to the agent becoming appointed, the application will be considered not in good order (NIGO) and returned. To help agents with this new requirement we have provided some transition rules below.

Transition Rules

  • Any piece of business signed by November 22, 2019 and received by December 5, 2019 will be accepted without prior appointment.
  • Any piece of business signed on or after November 23, 2019 will require the agent to be appointed prior to soliciting business.
    • If the agent is not appointed prior to the application signed date, business cannot be accepted.

Let’s deliver on our promises. Together.
